2600k temps ?

Thread Starter
Hi,

Just got a new system. I'm a little worried about my temps.
Here are a few screen shots with my temps. This is the system in my signature.

I am running the standard clocks on the CPU as well

I live in Australia so its really hot in my room, On a normal day its about 30c

I have reset the block on the CPU its making full contact, and today I got some
new thermal paste

those temps are a little high for that cooler. How do you put the TIM on? You should use a small amount in the center of the CPU, then place the heatsink on it and slowly twist it as you apply pressure. Then tighten it down as far as it will go and you should be all set!

Yeah, that's what I did. Could it just be that the case has poor airflow ?

it might be but chances aren't good. The 600t has a lot of grilles so that the airflow should not be restricted. How do you have the fan oriented? Intake or output?

I have to go now but will be back tomorrow to help you out if you still need it.

600t is quite notorious for having crap airflow.
run your case without the side panel on and stick your hand behind the front intake.

it does not move much air.

Corsair just released the new side panel that has your choice of a window or mesh cover.
The mesh cover allows you to place up to 4 fans on it, giving much needed airflow.
Hopefully this will rectify the problems.
I tinkered with an i7-875k and was idling around 40-50degrees celsius depending on ambient.

Since then I have mucked around swapping out the fans, and it has helped somewhat, but really it wasn't very effective.
I love the case, but man... I wish they would have gone with a manufacturer who designed a better 200mm fan, as the stock fan.

one thing you could do is add a 120mm fan to your 5.25" bay if you have the room to spare, to pull in air from the top front area, and also add one onto the drive cages for the 3.5" depending on your configuration of course.

Also make sure you have the fans on the cooler facing the right direction... I remember reading about someone who had both fans blowing into the rad by accident

Hope things clear up for you.
If worse comes to worse, wait for the new side panel to be released in your area, and hopefully that helps.

Cheers.

Hmm, I added another fan to the 3.5" cage, and I'm positive the fans are the right way,
I don't think its the case as its a solid 35c when idle and load

I thought the H70 could handle the 2600k easy. Did I get a faulty h70 ? .__.

All I know is that I'm around those temps at 4.5ghz with the same cooling setup. Though I've got it as an intake so I don't bake the 580 alive.

What temps is the BIOS reporting? I've noticed on a clear 3-5C difference in BIOS vs. software readings. RealTemp and the like wont be terribly accurate unless calibrated.

EDIT: Exhaust is how I've got it.

hmm, We do have almost the same spec's. I have the H70 set-up as intake, same with the front fan and the top is exhaust, I'm going to try it the other way around tomorrow

i would try the H70 as output, then every other fan you have as intake so that all the air will be forced past the H70 hopefully leading to some better temps.
