1055t running hot

Thread Starter
Hey there, bought a 1055t from another user and installed it today. I noticed I would go above 55c(on the chip temp not the cores) if I ran prime. overtime my idle temps crept up to 45c, Im using IC diamond paste I got a long time ago so Im wondering if i just need to wait for it to cure or something.

The cores of my i7 at 3.8 GHz sit at 60C when folding 24/7, those core temps are ok, are you using the stock cooler or an after market one? I don't know about the thermal paste you are using but it may have some cure time.

i7 and amd's are different in temps.

OP - go by the cpu socket temp. the core temps are usually 5-10C off.

i would invest in a cheap aftermarket cooler if ur not planning to oc. its best to keep the temps below 55C although tj max is 63. 55 is a sweet spot for them

the best cheap cooler is the cm hyper212+. should be able to find it for around 30$

Go into your bios and check voltages. I don't know if those CPU-Z voltages are load or idle, but it's worth a shot. Seems that a lot of motherboards put the x6 thubans at 1.45-1.52v (for me it was 1.552v) stock voltage, which is bloody absurd.

If you're hitting these temps with the 1.3v in the screenshot as a load voltage, then you definitely need to either reapply TIM or fix your case airflow.

I was planning on getting Hyper212+ and put two fans on it in push/pull. Also this is in my new case which has the weak stock fans on it(they dont seem to do much).

Can anyone suggest a brand for 120mm case fans? I only have 80mm fans from my old case. Also I lowered my voltage to 1.275 in bios and my max temp is 47 in prime95 and it goes lower if I point my room fan into my case. =)

Well if your fan pointing at your case is making it cooler then you need to get some better case fans and the cpu cooler, Noctua is what i suggest. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=1&name=Noctua

BIOS F8F and F8G work best with 790XT-UD4P for the least problems & most compatibility. The board should get you to 4Ghz CPU and 3Ghz NB easily
