Asking for a 1TB of flash memory at less than $100 is about as reasonable as 64GB of RAM for $20.

No it isn't, most people need/can make use that much storage space whereas hardly anyone can use that much RAM. So actually it's very reasonable. And I said £100.00 not $100.00

Well I guess it'll depend on the server but I'm still surprised unless you're on a low-population server.

I think the misunderstanding comes from viewing SSD's as "storage space". They are not. Store you data elsewhere, and only load the SSD with a few of your most frequently used apps.

SSD's serve a similar purpose as RAM - fast access to some but not all of your files - so the analogy is valid. Asking for a 1TB SSD for $100 is like asking for 1TB of ram for $100 or 1TB of L1 cache, etc...

People that are complaining about 60, 80, 120, 160GB SSDs are the type of people whose "Download Folder" remains on the C Drive. They most likely use the "My Documents" folder to store data. Not to mention, using their Desktop as temporary storage...

Also, their rooms are probably pigsties.

Not even close. My C drive is over 300GB right now after cleaning. Nothing but OS and applications. All downloads/temp files/data is on a separate harddrive. 256GB seem reasonable.
