Thread Starter
So today, I turn on my PC as I normally do.
I type in my password and it takes me to the desktop without a problem.

I go ahead and wait for everything to load up, but then I noticed Skype wasn't running. I always set it to boot at launch and yet it wasn't there.

I tried launching it manually but it wouldn't show up, I check the task manager and see that it is indeed running, but now there are two copies of the exe.

Then, I realize it's not connecting to internet, and it immediately locks up on me.

I restart it and now it's even worse. Microsoft Security Essentials isn't showing up in the taskbar either.
This time, when I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, it doesn't even get to the main screen of options where I can select Task Manager.

Instead, it said something about a security failure and "logon" was not able create security options.

Now, I went ahead and uninstalled Darkspore Beta because I thought that may have been causing the problem.

I do a memory diagnostic and it finds nothings.
I run a quick scan with Malwarebytes and it finds nothing.
I put in the Vista Repair disk and hit start up repair, but it also finds no problems.

Then I try booting into normal mode again and it works. I can go on the internet and everything seems to be showing up in the taskbar except for skype.
But when I try to get to the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, it still says that logon error screen from before.
I can now get to my main desktop, find the Event Viewer in the search bar.

Also, it seems sluggish.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

If it helps, I do have a Hirens boot disk laying around and it's the latest version

Yeah sounds like a Virus, use the Windows Restore on Accessories Folder.

I think the problem had to do with Skype, everything corrected itself when I removed it.
Lol, Trojan32.backdoor.skype.
