[TPU] AMD Catalyst 11.2 - Page 5

so cool another set of worthless drivers from ATI... guess they forgot about the old school 58xx cards... added a few things I see but have fixed no issues

Like others have said... just 11.1a released with a new official number.
that is exactly my plan.... but I am just waiting for my cards to be outdated... I can still out score any single card on the market with my 5850s and I have put to much money into them to just leave them behind

That looks a bit low. I get 69fps with HD 6950 Unlocked @ 950/1450. GTX580 @ 900Mhz gets 73fps.
So after seeing your post, I was kinda dissapointed by my score, so I decided to do a few more runs. Actually, it seems the tesselation setting in CCC overwrites the default setting of Unigine Heaven. It's something I had noticed from the 11.1a drivers as I could turn off tesselation even using tesselation at extreme in heaven. Those benchmark were ran at max tesselation (64x in ccc). So I decided to do a few more tests and even after clicking the "use application settings", it seems the last tesselation slider was still in action.

I did 6x tesselation from CCC, then clicked "use application settings" and here's what I got (11.2):

4x:

0x:

Those benchmarks were all ran using the same heaven settings, and were all using "use application settings" within CCC 11.2. Difference were changing the slider to the # tesselation, then clicking "use application settings" after slider was greyed out.

So there is obviously a flaw or non-compatibily in heaven where CCC last known tesselation will take over heaven tesselation. From 64x to 6x, I didnt really notice any differences that my eye was able to distinguish. At 4x, I could start seeing the tesselation wasn't at what is should be. And at 0x I could totally see the difference.

As for the improvements over 11.1a vs 11.12, check page 4 for scores in heaven, even tho its not a very overly world-changing improvement, it seems there is a little improvement from my test. I'll try running some 3d marks benchmarks for more concrete numbers.

Well I am gonna disagree with a few peeps here. The 11.2s runs better for me in BFBC2 than the 11.1as did. I get smoother play and less pop in then I was getting before.

I just installed them! Too early to tell how they'll work for me. I like the idea they included tessellation. We'll see how this pans out for gamers and gaming!

Even if AMD did release the best drivers ever, Nvidia loyalists will still come into this thread to hate.

I have both AMD and Nvidia cards. Brand hating is sooooo 2000's.

Well said! I couldn't have say it any better. And to think just a few weeks ago I was going to jump ship to Nvidia and get me GTX 560 Ti. I still could if I wanted. No need to now, my 5850 is finally rock solid.

Seriously, Ive never had a problem with either Nvidia or ATI drivers, sure I dont use multi card but they are both good for me.
I approve the drivers. My FPS in BC2 is even greater. The game works great with vsync and I did not notice any fps drops. Good job AMD. I play at 2560x1600.
