"Vail vs WHS 1

I have been using "Vail for some time now, & have been very happy with it. MY plan was to run it until it was released & then buy, but now that MS has officailly killed off DE with its latest offering (Windows Home Server 2011), I am rethinking my plan. I really liked the redundacy in WHS with DE, without having to setup & maintain a raid, & that is the part the is making me think I should just buy WHS 1 instead. Has anyone here run both Vail & WHS 1, are they prettty simailar now that WHS 1 is at Power Pak 3, any differences that are better or worse in WHS 1 over Vail? My conerns over 2011 are that it will just die a slow death now that MS has thumbed their nose at all the feedback from their users saying to keep DE.
I considered other options to MS too, but I would like to have a solution that works well with all my other Win 7 & Media center PC's, & so far Vail has been good, if WHS 1 is similar to Vail I think I should just go that route. Any thoughts?

Well, when I set up my home server a few weeks ago, I was debating which way to go, and Vail looked really nice, but with DE removed and the WMC stuff removed, not worth it. I would have had to buy new hard drives to have enough storage (I have an 80 gig and 120 gig ide and a 250, 500, 640 and 2tb SATA with all 7 of my computers being backed up with data redundancy).

MS is shooting itself in the foot integrating WHS and SBS into the same platform, they are totally different needs (well duh, Home vs. Business).

Honestly I WHS 2011 will flop. They keep repeating the same mistake, Win Me, Vista, and now with WHS 2001 and I don't think they will fix it just drop it and say there was no market for it. Hp has pulled out of the WHS market and unless microsoft comes back with windows Home Server 2011 R2 with restored DE functionality above NTFS and including a WMC server it will remain unfinished.

I guess I'm not he only one wondering which way to go. I will order WHS 1, next week unless I can come up with a better plan, better get it before is gone.
