hi guys.
i bought this PC from this guy. that has alot of money and didnt like his rig becuz it was getting BOSD
after 3 months i bought it from him. i changed the RAM setting and it ran fine on prime at stock speed for 8hours so i thought good this was a god deal let's go to 4.0Ghz

but i can't pass 3.8 and its kinda fustrating

anyway this is what he has

i7-950
Asus Rampage iii gene motheroard
6gb RAM tripple cas9 1600mzh corsair XM3 ( i bought this after cuz he had only 4gb (double channel on it)
corsair 750 PSU those modullar ones
v8 aftermark cooler
Msi GTX570 ( i didnt buy his card ) i got a new one

i have my BSP at 167 with 23 multiplier a Cvolt 1.208 and when its full load its 1.226v

also the temps are kinda very HOT too. it idles at 49degree my room temps are about 32degree tho i live in the caribean so its kinda hot in here

i tried many ways. 1.3voltage for 4.ghz it crash

Try increasing PLL voltage or going higher than 1.3v

What temps are you getting load?
Thread Starter
3.85 on load with HT on i'll go on 81-83
i'll try the pll when i get home to see if its good

if im not wrong the PLL are 1.8 going for 1.3 wouldnt that be not good?

whats the bsod error code? That will help

You shouldn't have a problem getting 4.0 with 1.3v, that's plenty. where's the QPIvoltage at?

im not sure. im at 4015Ghz now. doing the stress test.
how can i see the BSOD code?
the QPI and all the other stuff are set auto. since idk mostly what they are.
i increased the PLL to 1.85 i did a 3hour test on 3.95 was good. and stable
i changed it to 4015 but i changed the multiplier to 19x becuz i read some ppl say 19 is more stable so i gave it a shot
the problem is now the memory. my FSB is at 211 to get that speed with that multiplier. my memory is now running at 1689Mhz they are c9 1600 overclocking the memory won't affect me right? i mean the heat things get very heat up here

yeah HT is ON but when i do my stress test i turn them off. they only get the heat from fulload when its on. playing game never gets so hot

i changed to 19x multiplier seems better in matters of stabilitie. i thought i had a good OC lastnight when i went to sleep i saw my lcd doing the stress tes but when i woke up today morning it was freezed so it failed.

i tried increase the PLL voltage abit more. seems okay so far.
i just want it as low voltage as posible but also as high asposible in matter of speed,

can some1 tell me what kinda voltage on the IPQ should i put? those settings for me are in auto

I recommended more QPI and VCore than what it is normally used because you may have a lower-binned chip. Also, the voltages I gave are far from dangerous, so as long as you keep temps under control, they are very safe.

Also trying reseating your cooler. You should not get temperatures above 80*C. If reseating does not work, get a new cooler... the V8 is not a very good cooler for i7s.
