Boinc is annoying me >.<

Thread Starter
So i decided to download Boinc.
I set it up with Aqua@home, and started using it. I wanted to close the program for awhile and make it dissapear from my taskbar, not just pause it so i closed it... Later i realized it was still running in the background maxing all 8 threads on my cpu, so i kill the process... A few minutes later it returns. I right click to open location, kill it then delete it...

Now it decides to open a new ones, so i also kill and delete. All is good for a few minutes, but then the files decide to return. I kill them and delete the entire Folder. But then the folder decided to come back!

How can i just keep it closed without uninstalling it?

You can turn off BOINC in the BOINC manager.

Can that be disabled?
Sounds like a good feature for people who leave there pc unattended for a day or overnight, but its not really for me.

If you just close the window, it is still running in the taskbar... you need to exit the program

Do as follows:
  1. Open BOINC manager
  2. Click "Advanced
  3. Click "Shut down connected client"
  4. When window opens, click "OK"
  5. When next window opens, click "cancel"
Now all projects will be closed, no WU will be open and you can then close and exit the BOINC manager as follows:
  1. click "File"
  2. Click "Exit BOINC"

Now the BOINC manager will close and exit.

if you right click the boinc manager icon at the time stamp and at the bottom say exit a pop up occurs and asks if you are sure that shutting down boinc is what you want with a check box and a second check box that says remember my decision and perform this action in the future. to my knowledge this will stop boinc until you restart your machine.

are you only wanting to run boinc while you are at the computer ?
