Trendnet TEW-637 issues

I got this AP to add wifi to my home network and when it runs it runs fine but it crashes or otherwise becomes inaccessible almost daily and requires restart.

There are various degrees of "crash" I've seen from this device:

1) Web UI slow: Wifi works, web UI loads but is ridiculously slow.

2) Wifi only: Wifi works, web UI not accessible.

3) Wifi partially works: Hosts can detect the AP, connect, and get past authentication (WPA2) but gets stuck at obtaining IP address.

4) Ping only: AP is not detected by other wifi devices. I can still ping it via wired connection.

The test machine has no issues connecting and staying connected to public wifi or my friend's WPA2 (coincidentally also a Trendnet wifi device).

Running WPA2-PSK with AES

Would anyone know what could be the cause?

I have a couple of these. I did notice this would happen to me often. Once every few days. After a firmware update I haven't seen any problems.

I'd try updating the firmware if I were you. If not, try and get a replacement. They aren't the greatest quality products, but definitely good for a budget.

I was checking out firmware releases the other day and didn't find anything newer than what I already had but I had missed there is a V2.0 and 1.0 of this device. I probably have 2.0. I'll check later to see if there is an update.

Thanks

Yes their newest firmware (1.3.0.84) is working great so far. 2-3 days now without issue.

Thanks and +rep
