How to test for dead motherboard

Thread Starter
What are the options to testing whether the motherboard is dead?

My friends computer (I built him 2 years ago) will not post.

It turns on, but the monitor stays blank along with the keyboard lights.

There are no beeps so I don't have an error code. I have tried different ram/video card and I know the monitor works....

What should I do to test the mobo or possibly another part I'm missing? confused.gif

TIA

I've swapped ram, video card, monitor. Only parts left would be mobo/hd? I don't have a spare mobo for this cpu :-/

It turns on, without hiccup and the fan starts? Could it still have a problem if it starts? The PSU is an overkill for the system but It could have gone bad I suppose.

I do have a spare 800watt too, I will try that tonight ! *Crosses fingers*
