Questions about Coolmaxx 600watt PSu - Page 2

my fan controller is connected to the PSU by molex ( which i had to get resoldered as it as broken off in the box) but before i had all 4 fans running off the PSU and it was doing the same thing. It's just weird. Maybe i should get a better PSU, this one has a 5 year warranty.

here's what the sticker says on the unit:

+5v & +3v = 24a & 24a = 160watts +12v1,+12v2,+12v3 = 18a,18a& 15a = 450watts
-12v = 6watts +5vsb = 12.5 watts

iff you add all these together you get a total of = 628.5 watts.

im thinking i just got ripped off or something.

I read that the Logitech G110 and the G500 consume alot, but they dont tell you what exactly.

Load on the +5VSB isn't going to cause the problems you're describing.

so basically I need to replace my PSU and RMA my board and these problems will go away ? this is severely frustrating. I would like to have between a 550w - 700w good PSU, that is modular and doesnt cost an arm and a leg. Any suggestions ?

I have spoken with ASUS, im going to RMA my board, the tech had me check some voltages and everything is checking out ok. That being said, when i get the new replacement, and it still does the same thing I will have no other choice but to replace the PSU. Now what to do with the one that i currently have ?

Like its already been stated, the Antec Neo ECO 400w will power your rig with EASE and have room for more still. Your machine probably only draws around 250-300w at MOST. There is no reason why the Neo ECO 400w won't cut the bill for you .

If you seriously want to go completely and utterly overkill, find the TruePower New 550w. It's modular. It's a waste of money on your rig though, as you'll NEVER use that kind of power with what you've got.

Only reason I have the 650w in my sig is because I bought a TruePower Trio a few years ago used for $40 when my Apevia (also junk) unit died. RMA'd it, got the TPN back. Now I have room for SLI .

That's great. RMA your motherboard, and buy a new PSU now while its out. That PSU is doing nothing but harm.

I'm serious...the Neo ECO 400w is MORE than enough to power your machine. Ignore wattage ratings. Focus on the QUALITY of the power supply. You don't need anywhere NEAR 400w to power your rig.

Your CPU = 100-120w at most.
Your GPU = 130w (rough guess)

Those two things are the most power drawing things in your system. That's only 250w at most worth of draw, with a full 100% system load. That leaves you another 150w to power your board, drives, and fans (which those will usually not draw over 50-75w or so at MOST).

Open it up, remove the fan (or fans) and fan grill (or grills) then throw the rest in the trash. It isn't worth keeping and no honorable person would sell, or even give something bad to anyone else to use knowing that it could easily destroy their computer.
