So I read through your guide and I still have a quick question. One must pull out each card and flash them separately? I'm actually having an issue where my computer is black screening when I try and save the bios from the first card using winflash. Any ideas on that?

Yes on the pulling out and flashing each card separately. As for the computer black screening when you are trying to save the old BIOS... I admit I haven't a clue. Does your PC reboot after that?

Yeah, I reboot and all is well. I'll pull out each card and flash separately. Sigh. Why must the Witcher 2 obliterate my 6950 xfire setup and drive me to push my system 500 dollars past my original budget? Lol.

winflash has a drop down menu where I did one card at time and not needed to pull the other two.

edit: I'll get a pic later, but at the top offered me all three cards. you just have to flash one at a time.

Awesome guide! I just flashed my 6950 and it literally took minutes. Some things to note...

For the non-CMD method, I got a BSOD the second I tried to load "SapphireBios.bin"
For Win7 users, I had to first "Run it as an Administrator" then close the atiwinflash then use the CMD command lines to run the bios
For the CMD, it is confusing in your picture to have both "unlock.bin" and "SapphireBios.bin" frown.gif I think it would be really helpful to just have the "Rename your bios to bios" part be "Rename your bios to 'unlock.bin'" - might just be a small edit but I had to go to techpowerup's forums to look at Wizzards post about the renaming.

Last, here's proof this works on a Sapphire 6950!

guys, I just did my his, I did it through the command prompt, gpuz shows the new shaders but my default clocks in afterbuner, ccc, and gpuz show 800? This is a reference HIS w/ the bios switch, I tried the sapphire and the his bios and no change. any suggestions? Thanks!

Sorry for the double post, I figured it out biggrin.gif. Luckily, I had the stock Sapphire 6950 bios saved on a flash drive. I re-flashed the stock HIS 6950 bios, then flashed it to the stock Sapphire 6950 bios, than flashed it to the Sapphire 6970 and I have 880 default clocks w/ the new shaders wheee.gif

It looks like the Sapphire 6950 & 6970 bios are best ones to use. Senator, I'm not sure if this would help any one who is having issues.

I'm sorry for not reading through all of this thread. I will eventually but I'm at work at the moment and can't read that long without getting weird faces biggrin.gif

I'm on the look for a GFX card and can buy a Saph 6950 for a decent price.

I have three main questions after reading through the part of the guide:

1. How big is the risk of destroying your GFX card by flashing it? I think after flashing it and it goes wrong an RMA is out of the question;
2. Is the leap of performance worth it? I mean a 6970 is quite a bit more expensive than a 6950 but does it make a big difference irl performance playing games?
3. Do I need better than stock cooling to keep it cool enough after the flash?

Thanks for all the opinions.
