How To: Flash 6950 to 6970 Guide - Page 13

Works just perfect.

But i wonder how to resolve this?
Or is it maybe just a CCC bug? (Driver 11.11 - with cap2)

367

Full load - Stays at 800 in CCC? Memory follows just fine. rolleyes.gif

It seems it's only some applications. Weird.

Hmm. The 6950 to 6970 is tearing my cards apart in terms of heat.
Under load, the 1SLOT card hits 85-90C under load. (And that's noisy)

Got 2xSapphire in CF - Flashed with the 6970Sapphire bios.

Any suggestions?

And yes, i know better cooling would be another way around it.
But it just seems strange that they hit those temps with that little overclock.

Hoping you guys can help me.

:mad:Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5.

I have tried doing what's on the first page and running the script. It seems to run okay and I get the ATIwinflash message at the end and restart.

The display never comes back on after restart? just says DVI no signal. I switch back to 2 and reset to get it back again.

Has anyone seen this before?

Sweet got it working.

Followed

This

site exactly and made sure I used ATI Winflash 2.0.1.13 not the latest.

Cheers

How can heat get so insane with this little effort? i mean ***?
90 degrees in less demanding games.

It's insane. And noisy as ****.

The mod ups the voltage. If you don't want to water cool, you'll be better off doing the shader unlock only. Then if you feel like you need more performance, you can see what kind of clocks you can hit on stock 6950 voltage.

FYI I had my MSI card running 6970 bios and healthy overclock(950), but when I added the asus card and tried to match, I had too much heat, instability, crashes, etc. I don;t want to invest in watercooling so I'm running shader unlocks only. It's fast enough for me, and it's cool and quiet.

late to the show, but i was able to flash my msi reference to the listed ati 6970.bin from within windows. i tried the shader only method, and then OC'ing, but the temps were bad right out of the chute, so i went with the full flash, which took much less time than shader/putz with OC to get to stock/a bit above 6970 speeds. i'm happy

So I am having trouble flashing my xfx 6950(2gb version)

When I use atiwinflash It says cannot erase rom.

Fair enough I try the scripts in the cmd, When i type the unlock code it says its flashing but only gets 2-3 bars in then disappears. So i type in the code to flash a new bios on, in says its flashing but gets about half way through the loading bar and disappears. then nothing. no message, multiple restarts no change in bios. I have tried everything I could find to get this to work and I have failed every time.

I have tried a 6970 sapphire bios as well as asus and a 6970 xfx bios. I have tried also a modified version of my current bios by using RBE to unlock the shaders. every single time it fails to flash.

Any more information or tests you want me to do I would be happy to provide I just want to flash my card and maybe learn something along the way.

can you link to your card model? depending on how new it is, it may not be able to flash
