Will Crysis 2 be released on DL-DVD? - Page 7

I thought about posting something right here, but I find it much less painful to bang my head against a brick wall while having a root-canal.

Good day.

Good day.
Sounds delightful

As to the OT: Compression techniques have improved vastly over the past few years, to the point where 9GB of data on a DL-DVD is easily still enough for games (they're able to compress the data to roughly 50% it's initial size). I don't know why you would ever want more than one disc in the first place, it's not like an extra 9GB's of data is going to be textures.

Data size doesn't determine image quality.

Most games are released on one dual layer disk, however it's a growing trend for larger games to come on 2 DL disks.

I don't know how you can not understand these two basic physical laws:

1.) Compression only works until you run out of space again.

2.) Larger textures = Higher Resolution textures.
