It pays well, looks great, adds some needed experience with a major corporation. If you hate it, it's only a year.

great opportunity, and you'll have the internship status to make your resume for future jobs look prettier.

One year may seem like a long time, but it really isn't. Take the opportunity you have available and make the most of it!

I dont think you understand how the American economy is right now, its TOTAL ****. You are one of the lucky ones to get offered a job/internship. TAKE IT and after a year when the economy is a little bit better (cross your fingers) you can go pursue another goal of yours if you like.

I'd take it, its a year, if you hate it its not that long.
Im a UK University Student and because of the job market im not sure how easy its gonna be for me to get a job when I leave. Im currently looking for any part time work in computers be it from sales to production and there are no jobs.

The company name will look good to any other future employers and if its very lucrative all the more reason too

if only AMD gave me an internship to kill people or some humanitarian aid stuff, I'd happily take it. I'm sure AMD has less BS than the marine corps LOL

As someone who has had multiple internships in the engineering industry, I suggest you take the job. Companies like AMD want to squeeze a lot of good work out of you, but they also want you to be content with your work experience. Be on good terms with your manager and use this as an opportunity to get your foot in the door. You're with AMD for a year, not necessarily that department. It's much easier to transfer to another department once you're already there.

What do you risk by turning down this offer? Potentially not being hired for the second position. Then you're SOL.

Are you remotely enthusiastic about the department you would be working in? If not, are you open to discovery? It may very well surprise you.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Are you crazy? It's damn near impossible to get a job nowadays. Take it while you got the opportunity.
