Okay so if I decide to go the 2500k route where would you suggest that I find a Mobo right now? And can I manage a good build around $900?

sockpirate "Thoughts on full tower"
I have no idea I have not looked at dimensions of either, just thought a Mid would be fine. I will take a look at sizes.
"Check out the gtx 460 SC"
What does the SC stand for, what brand should I go with for the video card?

"get this RAM before end of 2/16"
I really want this RAM, and think it is a great deal. Will it work with either of the builds that I am thinking right now? Or should I just wait until I make the decision?

Good luck with that. :/ I've heard of some UK e-tailers listing them. OEMs are starting to ship SB hardware again. But for consumers like you and me, we still have a couple weeks to wait at least.

As for a $900 SB build:

2500K: $200
Mid-range mobo: $150-$200
GPU (you mentioned 460): upper $100's.
RAM: 4GB of 1,600MHz RAM (any brand) ~$80-$120

Add the rest of your earlier supplies added to this list.

The RAM sold out, so never mind on that.

I truly am so new to this I could change my mind if a 5 year old kid told me to do something different, so I really just need to keep learning.

But I am very interested in the 2500k if everyone feels that I can manage a build for around $900

Well I can handle a couple weeks, but I don't think I want to wait anymore then that? So if I go the 2500k route what would the recommened parts be?

It's very possible. If you need to pinch pennies, you can always drop the SSD or get two smaller drives and RAID 0 them for added speed. I wouldn't drop below a GTX 460/560 or AMD 57xx/6850 though if you plan on doing any gaming.

I am kind of a Gigabyte fanboy (i'll admit) so naturally I'd recommend a P67-UD3. But Asus has some good motherboards too -- the "Pro" is a good board. (It's hard pulling this all from memory with no actual hardware or links to reference, sorry). MSI is popular around here as is Asrock as of late.

And again, RAM is RAM. Unless you're a hardcore benchmarker, 1600MHz is fine. Hell, even 1,333MHz is fine. There is a slight (read: hardly noticeable) difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz, and 1,600MHz tends to be really close in price to 1,333MHz. So that's why it's worth exploring the upgrade. 1,800MHz and 2,000+MHz premiums are rarely worth the added cost, however.

And the 2500/2600 overclock like champs even with the stock cooler. But running cooler is always a nice thing to consider

That the thing I really do not ever plan to do any gaming. The original plan was no video card other then what came on the Mobo, since I will not be gaming. So a less expensive card would be fine I think?

Oh, well in that case, yeah, you don't need anything fancy. A simple Nvidia 250 card will suffice.

*Edit: Sorry, I meant GT 240

Well I am not sure what to do, I will try and wait a little while. Then decide between the two.

Thanks to all for the input, I am still rolling it all around in my head.
