Question About Drivers

Thread Starter
I just need to understand how this takes place; because I have the most weirdest event taking place:

My 8800 GTS S/C card is causing Windows to disable a pair of GTX 465 cards; and the funny thing is.... the 8800 is setup to run Physx only, according to the Nvidia Control Panel.

So, in my case, shouldn't different drivers keep the new hardware from taking a back seat to the old hardware? It's like the 8800 GTS is the Alpha Male over the GTX 465s....

I just need some clarification.

do you have displays connected to the 8800?

Nope...

I switch the 456s into SLi and the 8800 into Physx and the computer will disable the 465s and switch to a 1280 x 1024 resolution, on two monitors!!! When I jump to the Nvidia Control Panel it says that I am not using a display currently attached to an Nvidia GPU.

Wait... do you think that the Matrox TH2G is causing this?

I am about to find out if it is.

Update:

Took the TH2G off the system. Still won't work. Device Manager stopped responding.

Its like the 8800 just punked out two 456 cards and an X58 board with 24GB of RAM

Alright... The Nvidia Control Panel kicked back in system is out of SLi... the 8800 is on Physx.

I am going to turn Sli back on... I am starting to think that the problem lies there.

System is SLi'd....

Weird, no problems so far.... so now I am going to put the TH2G back on... it seems to be a natural way of doing things to make it work like it is supposed too....
