This is great.

"PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere" Duh.
"PC gaming is live and well" Wait, what? But you just said...
"But the reality is PC gaming hasn't gone anywhere. PC gaming has gone online." ...

He must be new to PR, or maybe they caught him on an off day. Good for a laugh i guess.

Well think about it, the only way for a PC game to be successful is to design an MMO or something that someone is willing to pay the game for, I mean sure, console's hold most of the gaming market but who's to blame for that, only ourselves because of piracy and yes of course console's are hacked to play pirated games but really, PC gamers only have the time and space to download games, not console gamers especially PS3 gamers, it requires too much data to download to leave it overnight.

People want to play higher resolution games now that PS3 and X360 are getting dated.
When the next batch of consoles come out people will play consoles for a few years then turn back to PC gaming and the cycle will start all over again. It really isn't complicated.
PC's aren't perfect either yeah they can be upgraded but for enthusiasts and gamers there are limitations all the time that force them to upgrade parts to accommodate newer technology on other parts. The only big difference is a PC is easier to justify cost and will continue to do so as it takes over living room TVs and Stereo receivers.
If he was implying that the PC went somewhere he's mis informed, as a gaming platform it has bad years but PC gaming will endure long past the life of consoles.

PC gaming is moving to the point to where the only big budget titles are going to be MMO's. If you don't like them I hope you don't enjoy gaming on the PC to much.

Outside of those you'll have indie games coming out on the PC. Some of those are pretty damn good so it's not all bad.

For the record I think FPS like the Battlefield series will be the last genre of big budget games to die on the PC before it all switches to MMO or small time indie only.
Dude MMO is NOT the only popular game, in fact, it's not...

You have a poor perception on PC Gaming, and I even write code for RPGs so, it's not like I know little about MMO's / MMORPGs...

Single Player Online games are STILL very strong, and some games, despite them being a MMO, people mostly play to advance their character or in the game and could care less if anyone else is on the server, the one exception to that is when one needs live opponents in order to play the game, like First Person Shooter games..

Enough said?

As we all know, a good Gaming PC is not cheap, Quad Core with a cheap decent midrange card would be around $600-700 correct?

But PS3 is expensive when you start counting in the cost of 4 games @ $50 or more... + $200...

Therefore I can see parents actually bypassing Consoles in favor of giving their kid a PC that can game too, after all, the kids need a PC anyway, and they can actually learn with a PC, with a console you can't do 1/2 of what a computer can! After all, the only thing it cost to upgrade a quad core system to a gaming machine is a Graphics Card & Games, but if the PSU isn't strong enough, then they will need to upgrade that too..

What another $300 and you got a stellar gaming rig?

Console just don't make sense any more to me... Say what you will, I'm a parent and I say PC Gaming IS the future, just ask the kids which game is more fun, the console or the computer games, they will quickly say computer games...

Hey mate us real gamers know that Online is NOT the only avenue to fun, I had a blast with Sims & Star Craft long before MMO was even remotely popular... I cannot count the # of games on a PC I have played offline and had a blast, yes there are just too many to list!

Even after MMO was popular I love games which are more in depth for offline campaigns than online... 8 Hours of gameplay offline = Fail in my book...

These game makers need to realize, games like Grand Theft Auto was and still are HUGE because of how in depth they were, and whether offline or online, they were/are a HUGE success & major fun!

Well, I'm a high school student and I can tell you that that statement is not accurate at all. Nowadays the only thing that kids expect from their PC's is to be able to go on Facebook. 99% prefer to be on XBL or PSN with all of their other friends playing Call of Duty. That's just the way it is. Jeez, most of them think that Call of Duty has "amazing graphics"....
