When the next batch of consoles come out people will play consoles for a few years then turn back to PC gaming and the cycle will start all over again. It really isn't complicated.
PC's aren't perfect either yeah they can be upgraded but for enthusiasts and gamers there are limitations all the time that force them to upgrade parts to accommodate newer technology on other parts. The only big difference is a PC is easier to justify cost and will continue to do so as it takes over living room TVs and Stereo receivers.
If he was implying that the PC went somewhere he's mis informed, as a gaming platform it has bad years but PC gaming will endure long past the life of consoles.
As we all know, a good Gaming PC is not cheap, Quad Core with a cheap decent midrange card would be around $600-700 correct?
But PS3 is expensive when you start counting in the cost of 4 games @ $50 or more... + $200...
Therefore I can see parents actually bypassing Consoles in favor of giving their kid a PC that can game too, after all, the kids need a PC anyway, and they can actually learn with a PC, with a console you can't do 1/2 of what a computer can! After all, the only thing it cost to upgrade a quad core system to a gaming machine is a Graphics Card & Games, but if the PSU isn't strong enough, then they will need to upgrade that too..
What another $300 and you got a stellar gaming rig?
Console just don't make sense any more to me... Say what you will, I'm a parent and I say PC Gaming IS the future, just ask the kids which game is more fun, the console or the computer games, they will quickly say computer games...
