Very broad question - how much to get wet?

Thread Starter
As in title. Just wondering if it's worth wondering about! My birthday's coming up. I'd love a tablet to make life easier when photoshopping, but also want to get my CPU under water.

My rig idles around 39c (and max temp is 50/51c). Pretty warm, but only 5-8c above ambient!

I'm all for 2nd hand parts if poss, but I do live in The Philippines. Might not be worth getting parts shipped from the US.

So, how much for a CPU-only WC set-up. Not looking for record-breaking temps, but not something I'd immediately want to upgrade either. I'm very happy with my GPU temps and I suspect they'd improve too with CPU heat moving to the outside of the case.

Roughly how much of a difference could I expect to see?

Approx. how much money do I need before I start comparing products?

Many thanks

Here is a very good kit for the price:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...l=g30c321s1310

When I had my phenom running at 1.55v, I was getting ~47C load. Granted, I do not have the Rasa kit; but you should still see a decent decrease in temps.

Thanks bl1nk.

It says The XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit is a one stop solution to liquid cooling your hardware. The kit starts with the XSPC's Acetal Rasa CPU block specifically designed for Multi-Core CPUs. Fully compatible with major AMD and Intel sockets this block is top of the line! Follow this up with the latest dual radiator from XSPC the RS240 and the XSPC 750 Pump Dual Bay reservoir combo and your off to the races

So I'd need a reservoir and a rad?

^^ Beat me to it. Get the 240 or the 360 kit depending upon what you plan on doing in the future.

Nope, it comes with everything besides a biocide; Killcoil or PT-Nuke.

TBH, I think this'll be the last upgrade for a while (isn't it always).

How much difference is there between a 240 and 360 kit, temp-wise?

I'm confused as to whether I'd need extra parts - the pics in the link suggest that everything's included.

For a CPU only, I'd get a 240..if you plan to add other stuff to your loop then go for the 360. And like I said it does come with everything besides a biocide.

Cooling only your CPU would not need a 360 but if you plan on adding an NB block, GPU, etc. 360 would be a better choice.

I can attest to the awesomeness that is the rasa kit. I have the 360 rad kit and it was my first watercooling setup, recommended by the guys on the forum. I love it and it's super-easy to set up.

The only thing I did was exchange the hosing for some primochill uv green and then got some gentle typhoon ap-15s thrown on the rad.

You won't be disappointed if you grab that kit!

Thanks.

re. 360 vs 240

1. The XPSC Rasa with the RS 360 has a radiator which fits 3x 240mm fans whereas the 240 has 2x240 fans... correct?

2. The 360 isn't necessary for CPU only cooling. Will it lower the temps for CPU only or will it just keep the same temps with GPU, NB etc added?

3. With 3x fans, is the 360 louder than the 240?

4. For $20, is there any reason NOT to get the 360? I'd inlcude noise as a con.

Thanks to all of you. reps

Did you run the kit with stock fans? Much temp change with the typhoons?

Why did you change the hosing? Performance or just prettiness?
