re. 360 vs 240

1. The XPSC Rasa with the RS 360 has a radiator which fits 3x 240mm fans whereas the 240 has 2x240 fans... correct?
3x120mm for the 360 and 2x120mm fans for the 240.

2. The 360 isn't necessary for CPU only cooling. Will it lower the temps for CPU only or will it just keep the same temps with GPU, NB etc added?
It will most likely decrease temps a bit, but not by much.

3. With 3x fans, is the 360 louder than the 240?
It will be louder, because there will be an extra fan on the 360 (2 if you decide to do push/pull)

4. For $20, is there any reason NOT to get the 360? I'd inlcude noise as a con.
Noise and space inside to mount the rad are the only 2.

Thanks to all of you. reps

Did you run the kit with stock fans? Much temp change with the typhoons?
The stock fans are not bad by any means, but GTs will perform a bit better. Is it worth ~$60 extra, most likely not.

Why did you change the hosing? Performance or just prettiness?
Most consider clear hosing to be unattractive, hosing does not effect performance; just personal preference.
Replied in the quote.

Anywhere from $130-$500 depending on whether "low end" or "high end" cpu temps will only change by like 5C

no suggestion of the H70?
the corsair H70 would be cheaper, cheaper to ship and might be all you are looking for.

Thanks to all of you. Plenty to think about and consider.

I'm not after an H70 - not great reviews compared to most WC systems - it often can't hold its own against a good air set-up.

I'm tempted by the 360. Although the 240 would be enough, more is always better For $20 it seems worth it. I don't know if I'll mount inside the case. With high ambient temps, the further the heat is from the GPU, mobo, HDDs etc, the better.

Thanks again

Mike

I did not try the fans, no. I haven't heard much about them. A no-name brand in the world of fans. I just know the performance of the gentle typhoons and wanted to stick with what I knew. They are super quiet, too.

I changed the hosing out simply for cosmetic purposes. The clear tubing will def suffice, though.

I went with the 360 kit - I wanted to watercool a video card too. Which I am actually about to do. A gtx 480.

Dude. Get the tablet. It's a tool that helps you be creative. Unless you really want to hit some magical arbitrary overclock number or your PC is unacceptably noisy (and, really, there are plenty of decent air cooling solutions for that), watercooling is useless bling.

Thanks subtec.

I'm still not 100% sold on either WC or the tablet.

My PC is pretty noisy. 4x Typhoons, push/pull SanAce on my CPU and 2x big-arsed (the technical term) Dell fans.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the cost of the Rasa kit. Not so impressed with the '5c drop'.

I like overclocking. Realistic performance gain though, rather than benchmarks etc. My temps are okay. Good considering the ambient temps. I'm stable at 4.0000001Ghz and stock volts - massive temp increase (10c idle and load) if I touch the voltage though.

Hmmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

because h70's are terrible unit for the money. compared to rs240.

op,

I spend around 530CAD with my custom setup. I initially started with looking at those rasa rs240 kit

but i was also looking to put gpu under water. so just jumped to custom loop, because I like everything hand picked =D

H70's and H50's are not "terrible"...they just fit a niche where you don't have to research a ton, buy a bunch of parts (like fittings, kill coils, tubes, CPU blocks, radiators...so on and so forth), have to perform periodic maintence on, etc, to get reasonable decent cooling at a fairly reasonable price. They are solid coolers...

That said...I moved from a H50 to a complete EK HF System and love every-tinkering-second of it. So ask yourself if you want to do this for fun and the enjoyment of a cool hobby. If the answer is yes...get a kit and jump in (just make sure you have lots of money to spend...because once you start you're ALWAYS looking to add to your system).
