Is my PSU sufficient for GTX480SLI Setup?

Thread Starter
I'm going to add another 480GTX for my rig, and I'm wondering whether my current PSU can handle them both or not? If not then which one should I buy next? Please recommend me one.
Thanks in advance.

You should be more than fine wattage wise. Your PSU is silver rated and you have enough connections cable wise. So yeah, your good.

Hmm, is there any risk running GTX480SLI with a non-single rail PSU? I really doubt it...

No risk that I'm aware of. Although running Sli 480's + a 450 for physx will be cutting it close.

If just 480's you'll be fine.

Good solid unit that PSU of yours good choice
post #8 of 11
480 is a 250w GPU. 450 is 105w GPU but draws less in physx . That M12D 850W can pull 70a/840w on 12v and usually does more than its specs so it should be fine.
Agreed, 850 will be plenty in gaming, only in a serious PhysX aware benchmark situation that fully stressed all 3 GPUs and your CPU as well will that 850 struggle, and how often will you do that?

The M12D won't struggle at all.

Single rail vs Multi rail doesn't matter.
