Temperature Sensors?

Thread Starter
My Lamptron FC touch came with 6 temperature sensors. Is this just for automatic fan control or is that what displays the temperature on the front of the device?

If I choose not to install them, will it still display an inaccurate temperature or will it not display one at all?

If I wanted to install the temperature sensors, should I install them near fans? My friend said they're best used on heatsinks and such which makes complete sense.

Anyone have any advice?

It can do either one, though you will need to configure it for automatic control.

Not sure, really. It might say 0 degrees or something.

Near heatsinks, video card(s), hard drives, somewhere over the motherboard, things like that.

To find out if it will display a temperature without the sensors plugged in then try and find out. Test it out and see how things work, your not going to hurt it. The temp probes are just a variable resistor that responds with a change in resistance to a certain temperature range.

As far as temp sensor locations, I would put at least two in different spots in the case for air temps to help you improve airflow effectiveness. Maybe place one peeking out somewhere for ambient temps and you could put one on the cpu H/S but the temps will most likely be a far amount off but it will at least give you some info. Mossfet's would be a good idea to monitor if doing any overclocking.
