Thread Starter
Im a total noob when it comes to motherboards. If i was going to keep the 870A-g54 where should i put heatsinks? I read another thread on here that said only putting ones to the left of the CPU next to the row of chokes is fine. True?

I just ran into a problem with ControlCenter on both of my MSI 870A-G54's.

I went to Basic under Overclocking, and then clicked on the Cooling tab. It instant locked up the computer.

The display was frozen. The keyboard and mouse were non functional. Not only that, the onboard network controller was not even answering ping. I tried it on my other 870A-G54 and it did the same.

These machines are running Windows Server 2008 R2 and have Phenom II x6 1090T's with 16 GB of G-Skill DDR3 1333.

I have the same problem too. I am running an X2 560 at stock and whenever I click on the Cooling tab I also get an instant PC freeze and a high-pitch squealing sound from my speakers. Guess I won't be doing any overclocking with this board. It's a shame that MSI advertise this board as being for overclockers and it apparently sucks at it. Oh well I just got this board yesterday after I gouged my DP67BG after trying to install a CoolIT Vantage - DOH!redface.gif - I just am using this board until the replacement P67 boards are ready.
