save another $50 bada bing!

IMO no need to go with a BE processor if you aren't going to over clock. The other difference with the athlon is the absence of L3 cache. between my buddy's Athlonx4 and my Phenomx4BE gaming is barely different... however at the time the 955 was the flagship, and im a connoisseur for the finer things plus i DO overclock

also what games are you playing, a 6850 may do the job and save you some more $$
^^ seriously this. Athlon II 640 +HD 6850 is the answer here. Girls like cases. Spend extra $ on things like pink LED fans and she will love it.

minus one video card you could build my sig for $964 including os. but as said you might want to spurge on a nicer case.

Phenom II's L3 cache can help with framerates a bit. In fact gaming is usually where the L3 makes most of a difference.

Truth !!

My girl really wants a green case. That is soo hard to find. What's pathetic is the only green case I can find that is half way decent and that she likes is a Cooler Master HAF custom Nvidia case. The damn thing is over 200 dollars?! But she likes it.

Not to mention the fact that I was planning on going ATI for the video card and she is going to have a custom case of their direct competitor lol.

Anyway It was a MSI MB that came with it. Newegg had a combo deal for all of that.

I noticed Newegg has combos on Asus MB's and AMD cpu's at the moment though so I will probably be changing that.

Arg i know u mite not want ot hear this. Take out your card out of your pc Get the 6 core amd and overclock for yourself and give her the intel pc you got. Would be a nice update , the 6 core is faster then a i5, why should your gf have a better pc if u r making it. ?
If she is going to play it Get a lower powered cpu, phonmo 925 or something.

that doesnt mean that they are being used as efficiently or as fast as an x4 especially if the x4 has a higher clock speed you will not see a difference in todays games with a 6 core vs a 4 core, all things equal

Yeah I'm not to sure how well I can handle her having a better rig then myself. Specially when I am way more into gaming and stuff lol.

Regardless I don't know if I could do that haha.
