If you don't need the HT, just go with the 2500k. You can still overclock the snot outta it and it'll be miles faster than an 1100T.

But IMO since Sandy Bridge is out of service until April you might as well wait for the Bulldozer to come out. Current Phenom II X6s are still fundamentally on K10 architecture which is archaic, which is why they are still miles behind the 980X.

Agreed, current AMD cpu architecture cannot compete even with older x58 platform, if u can wait a bit - wait till revised p67 boards become available, if u need pc now - get yourself x58 setup. BTW i7 960 can be bought for about $300 now. Pretty good option imo - its 3.2Ghz and Phenom x6 isn't match for this cpu.

AMD x6 isn't a very good investment at this point imo. If you can, I'd just wait for SB to become available again or see what Bulldozer has to offer.

A 2500k is an excellent cpu and should fulfill all your gaming needs.
