Sandybridge is due to have the fixed chipsets out soon so I would definitely hold off on getting a PC till then. A 2600k will own an amd hex core any day.
AMD = Last gen+really old architecture, wait for Bulldozer FX

well iam very impressed with the 2600K raw power BUT again my friends are telling to get the X6 1100T for the 6 cores and other stuffs...they r even saying if u get a good overclock with the X6 1100t then it will be close to or equivalent to 980X....is it true?...um not sure..

again recently 2600K had that chipset problem....so if i get the 2600K with will be the best overclocking mother board for it?

nd if i get the 1100T which will be the best O.Cing motherboard for it...i am new to amd motherboard nd very confused about their namings...

thanx...
4Ghz Phenom 2 x6 = Stock clocked 980x

Lol. No. A underclocked 980x will still wipe the floor w/ a 4ghz p2x6.

This is not even arguable. Not to mention, you can still overclock the 980x to 4-4.5ghz itself and decimate any hopes amd's x6 has of coming out on top.

If it didn't, intel would not be able to get away with selling it over 1,000$. AMD's 6 cores are not even on intel's radar as a threat. If it was, there would be a price war, and there never has been.

Like someone already said, if you don't have any parts already, just wait it out and see what bulldozer does. If it comes out of the gate swinging and landing blows to intel, wait for the price wars to insue and enjoy either build. If it comes out and still doesn't beat the SB platform then look into SB. My guess is that it will come in somewhere between the x58 and P67 performance level, and with AMD's amazing prices they've always had it may well be better to go w/ AMD. Just have to wait and see.

behold antuk...
seriously this guy is dilusional...
i have been seeing him for a lot of time and he is always favouring ati/amd no matter what the actual facts r.....
seriously man stop all this if u dont want to be called(u know what)....

ontopic: theres no way an x6 could beat an i7 870/950(both similar performance) let alone beating an i7 980x....
to op u should wait untill bd is out...
if u want to buy right now then i5 2500k would be more than sufficient..
i5 2500k>=i7 870/950(stock for stock and not clock for clock. In clock for clock comparison the i7 870/950 might get a lead in a few benches which can utilize more than 4 threads)
so go with i5 2500k,right now its the best u can get for decent price....

to antuk:
if u r so satisfied and happy about x6 performance then why do u want to do this

lol
man u r contradicting urself.........xD

I'm not far off with my estimate of 4Ghz Phenom 2 x6 = Stock 980x making your sig quote laughable.

And BD won't work in my motherboard and if I'm swapping out I fancy having a bash at Intel as the last Intel system I had was the old 775...

Did I say the Phenom 2 x6 was better/faster?? NO...

Did I say you couldn't overclock the 980x?? NO...

I just said that a 4Ghz Phenom 2 x6 is about equal to stock 980x which according to those charts is not that far from being true

iam also talking about ur attitude in general...u just seem to favor ati/amd even if nvidia/intel has a better option available at same price point(not talking about 980xvsx6 here lol)....
now i would not like to give examples of ur posts but u know what im talking about..........
im just refraining from calling u a "fanboy" coz it wont seem nice...but u should start seeing th facts and leave ur attitude behind.....
