I can't say I'm impressed with their latest announcements, But I've never been let down by an HTC. Great stuff. And I'm not sure why everyones hating the tablet so hard. Looks pretty good to me. I wonder what the potential is here for using this as a tablet a la a wacom.
Personally, if you want to beat the ipad, the solution is simple: Make it into an accessory, and work with google on the new Fragments UI/upcoming Android OS's to enable you to simply dock any android phone to it, and have the phone be the computer, and the tablet the peripheral.
7" and 10" multitouch display models, packing little more than a screen, a battery, inputs, and perhaps speakers. Add a universal cradle (perhaps with a special dock that can cradle your companies line of phones for a flush fit) in it, and viola. You just rendered the entire market segment obsolete. Now you don't have to reinvent the wheel. next step would obviously being plugging the Tablet into the computer and using it as a peripheral for it as well. Or the car. etc. I suspect Google already has this vision, considering they're going to back HoneyComb and Gingerbread together into Fragments, so that the os running on a tablet is the same as that running on it's phone brethren. As a result, I'm going to put off buying a tablet.
