You are correct, getting a Phenom 955-965 make no sense at this point in the game because its just slightly higher to get a 6 core.

However if you are getting a Phenom II 550/560 and unlocking it to a Quad and getting a free motherboard in the process from Microcenter for $100 bucks, then it makes sense to go for a quad over the X6.

Only X6 I would get is a 1090T or 1100T. The 1055t doesn't have an unlocked multi and is alot harder to get to 4GHZ.You need a better motherboard to get the kind of performance people want out of a 1055t.
