I'm currently running my cpu @ 277x13.5 = 3740mhz. @1.45v
I've tried running it above this, but even when i set it to 1.5v it won't go above 3.8 Could i try above 1.5?

The cpu is watercooled, the NB however isn't. I'm not sure if voltage increase results in higher temprature of other components?.. mosfets maybe?.

Any ideas? All info of the current setup is in my sig for those who wish to know more.

*EDIT*
I have to note, that i have NOT updated BIOS. So i'm not sure if it's at it's latest version.
Also it's unknown to me if this can or cannot influence max achievable freq.
The reason i didn't update the BIOS was because i didn't know if the Unlock would be possible on a newer version.

Thanks!

you do not sate what X2 unlocked to X4 you have. Is it a Black edition 550 555 or 560? If so, you need to unleash the multiplier some and relax on the FSB. You may be maxing your mobo's FSB.

Looking farther into your specs, you state stock is 3100mhz, so you have a 550 BE?

It's a 550 dual core. stock @ 3.1
When i unleash the multi and relax the FSB, it still won't run above the current speed. Thats why i think the voltage might have to go up.. but i'm not sure how far i can push it. Also it will be running @ above 160watts. Maybe i'm hitting a cap on the CPU and/or MB?

Is it a C2 version or C3? Use CPU-Z to find this out. If you have a C2 you are probably doing ok. If its a C3 revision, upping voltage to around 1.5v might net you 3850mhz-39000mhz.

It's a C3. I looked carefully for this because from my understanding C3's are further developped and therefore usually better to OC?.

Like stated above, with 1.5v it still won't go beyond the 3.8 without crashing on me in prime95.

Looking at that board its not meant to be pushed too hard, so dont go over 1.5v would be my recommendation.

You probably hit your max then.

You can probably get about 200mhz more as an X2, but hey, you got a 3.8ghz X4 out of a X2 3.1ghz so be proud.

Had an X3 that unlocked to an X4 but wouldnt do above 3.6ghz, as an X3 did 3.8, was nice.

Also if you encounter errors as an X4 dont forget to try to lock one of the 2 unlocked cores and see what you can get out of it as an X3.

Okay, if your watercooled then try up to 1.55v, but to be honest if your motherboard isnt being cooled dont go too far with a 4+1 phase board and no MOSFET cooling. I had my CPU temps under plenty of control on an MSI 790FX board but pushed the voltage too high and blew a MOSFET, VRM or whatever.

Oh, as to your Bios, any newer version will allow a better chance at unlock, OCrobably will not be effected much, unless your current Bios is really old. Which a 790FX board wont be much of an issue, but it cant hurt. Well if done right.

In that case i'll check it out and try it. If it fails anyway, i can always go back
