My blackwidow suddenly feels...odd?

So I got this keyboard from a friend, who is also a member on here, it was less than a month old. At first, I loved it, and the switches felt so tactile and light, I enjoyed typing on it and I didn't bottom out, I just got the the "click" point, the moved on, and I was finding it much eaiser to type.

At the start of this week though, it began to feel odd. The switches feel much heavier, I keep bottoming out on the keys which I don't normally do, and it's not really all that nice to type on. My WPM has decreased too, and I'm making a lot more typos.

Sure, it sounds like I'm blaming the keyboard for my uselessness (), but I swear I'm not. The numpad and macro keys still feel as good as when I got them, but the main typing area has got a lot stiffer, and I don't really enjoy typing on it all that much now.

I can return it and potentially get my money back, or see if it get's better. Another friend of mine has one and he said that his got stiffer, but he prefers it that way so it doesn't bother him.

Why is this happening? What do?

I just checked and Amazon wouldn't take it back even if it was faulty. All they would do is forward it to razer's RMA department if you included all the relevant warranty information.

That kind-of sucks...

Cherry switches can exhibit some of the issues specified, but having a number of them go at once is unusual... Bad batch?

The owner of EliteKeyboards said that Filco traditionally didn't make Blue Cherry keyboards due to reliability issues with the switches. When they manufactured them due to demand from the US/European market, they started making them, but lumped on various additional QA checks. Even then, you'd hear about a dud Blue Cherry Filco on Geekhack every now and then.

Might want to send Techsupport@razersupport.com an email describing the problem and see if they will accept it (the probably will).

I think that's your best bet. You wouldn't even need anything from me i don't think. But if you need the original invoice i'd be happy to send you it.

If you smoke near your keyboard or have a seriously dusty room, stuff might have gotten into the switches. Which might explain it.

Razer makes good products but has one of the worst customer service departments I've ever dealt with.

I also wish myself luck in that I hope my BlackWidow switches never suddenly fall flat.
