Thread Starter
firstly sorry (if) for posting this in inappropriate section.. if its not the correct section. please admins move this to the correct section.

I plan to purchase a good pc around july or so..

here is my config i want to buy :

Processor :

AMD Phenom :
x2 555
x4 955

Intel :
i5
i7

Preference : Good for gaming for atleast coming 5 years.. and cost effective also

RAM :

8 GB (upto 8GB I see significant improvement but after 8GB the improvement is marginal and i prefer optimal)

Motherboard :
Asus or Gigabyte (which one is better? Gigabyte is economical)

Graphic Card :

(in order of preference)

ATI 5870 HD
ATI 6870 HD
NVIDIA GTX 460

Hard Disk Drive (HDD) :

250GB
500GB

(no idea what to choose and how to choose..)

Coolant/CPU Box :

Have no idea.. heard some water cooler system is good but its costing some 3500 INR (approx 78 USD) here..

What i want :

A good Optimum(cpu, graphic card, coolant)/economical(RAM, HDD,) Gaming PC that will serve me for at least 5 years and run games good..

Additional Information/Queries :

- I saw some cpu-gpu relation bottlenecks that will reduce the performance of gaming.. pls enlighten me..

- What amount of Power Supply can i take in??

- Is nVidia-Intel or ATI-AMD are they combos? i heard that those combos give good performance.. is it true?

- Is there any going-to-be released hardware that i can take into consideration?

pls help me in my first assembled pc..

btw i am planning to buy all the hardware and assemble at home.. can i do that? or shall i get it done by the shopkeeper itself??

I'm not sure whether your budget can fit what you want. Those choices above is rather difficult to fit your budget. Pardon me if i'm wrong or something. Since you only have $500 USD to spare is it?

man. wait cos maybe some1 is already doing some research for you to build something that will not go over the budget less then a hour is not much

all i will say is to wait, grab some more moeny and buy bulldozer.
for $500 you are going to most probably have to wait to either
1) save more money
2) wait for next-gen tech to come out so that current gen prices drop
3) get an average system

My opinion... wait

Look at

i5 750/760 (which ever is cheaper for you as it sometimes does differ)
Decent P55 board (ASUS/MSI are good here for value vs quality)
CoolerMaster 212+ (Great cheap cooler)
4GB DDR3 1333Mhz (Look for a cheap kit with heat spreaders, dont use OCZ)
550w+ PSU (Corsair/Seasonic/Antec/XFX/Enermax DON'T GO CHEAP OUT PSU wattage =/= quality)
Nvidia GTX 460 Up to you really
HDD: Get 500Gb Seagate/WD/Samsung, HDD's are cheap now, just get 500+
