I ran my second stick (which i suspect as defective) alone, and test fails immediately, despite memtest passing it.

So im sending it back to tigerdirect, and theyre paying shipping for it on the way there and back.
this is why I said memtest isn't very good...

Wow, you just might be the most impatient person on OCN. Posting three different threads in a single day because nobody responded to you? This is a forum, not a live chat. Have some damn patience and wait for people to respond.

Is your ram on the compatible list for your mobo... I had this exact same issue with some ocz ram... mobo didn't have a list and it was kinda like russian roulette... I bought the ram did the exact same thing you describe... sometimes it would work othertimes it would be slightly off and cause an instability... My system ALWAYS passed small ffts even with the bad sticks... try that and let us know... if thats the case then its the ram... RMA if it comes back and does the same thing buy new sticks... different brand or known to be completely compatible with the mobo/processor...

this sounds more like a possibility Ive never heard of memtest not being able to test positive for bad ram.

My bad. I was just super frustrated with this BS defective crap and thought people weren't going to respond because the previous thread went lower on the list. After all I have a feeling my problem had some people puzzled, but only because I'm the "middleman" in this diagnosis. This is my first forum account ever, and I'm quite unfamiliar with the way things work. But I'm getting to know my way around. And thanks for enlightening me, I'll definitely remember that for next time. I'm only learning from looking around and picking up on what people tell me. So I appreciate the consolidation.

My first stick was perfectly fine though. And I think my mobo supports it because in the BIOS where the timings are, the SPD settings (which I believe are what the mobo automatically detects in the RAM) were correctly corresponding to what the Corsair's official specs.

But I'm a newbie, so....
