Either way, if it's for gaming and it's not ASUS, than it's most likely Creative, and as most people on here will tell you, it's inferior to ASUS solutions, especially in the ways of ownership base and customer support.
I would go back to ASUS if I were you, I understand your frustration but there are lemons out there and more people than not are very satisfied.

True, but I only found complaints with releases of a new OS. For example, from people who bought a Creative card when XP was released, then when they upgrade to Vista they find out their sound card becomes worthless due to lack of driver support. If that's the case and the only problem with them, I'm willing to switch to Creative, since I will only be running XP and no other OS (not another Windows OS anyway).

My DX was doing the same thing, mostly in COD:BO and an old game I play would loop at the end of every race I ran, making it unplayable.

Download the Unified drivers, install them just like graphics drivers. Meaning to unistall, reboot in safe mode etc..or maybe try a different slot on your MoBo. I think that is what permantly fixed my prob. Went from below my GPU to the slot above it.
Are these Unified drivers official or not and are they safe to use? I'm currently using the official ASUS drivers off their website.

Also my motherboard is a micro ATX one, with 2 PCI slots. Only one is useable, since the GTX 460 hogs 2 expansion slots and therefore blocks one PCI slot.

Also although this may sound like a very noob request, can someone please tell me how and what's the best/only way of uninstalling/re-installing the sound card drivers? I don't want to use Driver Sweeper (it already FUBAR'd my system once).

holy triple post batman. The unified drivers are fine. A sound card is actually supposed to take cycles off of a cpu.

The little button with a plus then hit post reply. I honestly don't find my creative x-fi any better then the onboard sound on my computer.

Creative support in Linux is also horrible. I don't know about now, but back when I owned my X-Fi Xtrememusic, it never worked in Linux, even when I tried installing the Linux drivers for it. I had to go back to using my onboard sound when I was using Linux.

However, my ASUS cards have all worked in Linux perfectly fine, without any extra configuration at all.

It's the little button to the right of the quote button. Looks like quotes with a +.

The + stands for multiple(shouldn't it be x then?). Quotation marks stand for Quote. So "+ = Multiple Quotes.

Press it for every post you want to multi-quote then on the last quote you want to quote, just press the normal quote button and it'll paste all the quotes you wanted into a text box where you can respond to each.
