were here to help and make sure you get the best bang for buck in the nicest possible way please do research into your kit and listen to the rest of us here and you wont go wrong atall
And this is why I recommend this site to all the IT guys I know. We actually have grown ups around here. I appreciate all the feedback and everyone has been very helpful. I get pissed sometimes, but I man enough to admit that I eff up from time to time. I just got excited as I never expected my wife to approve the purchase lol. That and I **** myself when I saw that CPU. Keep in mind everyone that this is my graduation present. 15 years ago or so I was homeless I am now a collage grad with my own business and have become very successful from nothing. So while I am going to attempt to run this as a server while I game and/or watch tv and stream video to the set in the living room pretty much at all times. So I need alot of power, but perhaps not this much. This is also a gift to me for pulling it off, so lets just focus on wanton power!!!! >.<

ahh good point we addressed that though. Im gonna sell of the 60 and get a few decent 1 or 2 terras for raid 0 Im even considering raid 5.

Tbh, the build wasnt that bad since you had so much allready.

the intel board is an odd choice yes but as a own company owner to i would sure love to have a go at that board. it looks alot better then the first X58 boards they brought out.

a good thing to keep yourself up to date is just get Tech magazines, read ****loads of trusted reviews and visit OCN alot.

LOL. i must say that if you do need a server for work and you want to game on it or steam something, then to hell with all you bought. sell it all... rly. sell all stuff you got and buy some best stuffs for server, then simple gaming rig and something cheap for htpc XD. sometimes to run more pcs is better then to run all on one pc
post #65 of 102
Dude seriously part this out on eBay or something before its value just plummets.

Sorry man but fail rig. Try again.

Ahhhhh, but then I can't brag to my buddies about my monstrosity of mega gaming super server from hell. lol I am also trying to build a crazy machine just for the fun of building and ocing the pants off it. Besides I actually have PCs literally everywhere in this house at most times and I am at my nag limit lol. So 1 pc to rule them all would be nice. Did I mention I get to brag lololol.... sigh sorry that pain killer was STRONG. Forget the sinus headache, I can't even feel booboos I forgot about, or my toes...

LOL XD well good luck on that you will still get loads of raw performance from the gulftown so it could work buy tons of ram, 24 gb maybe even better then ultra fast 12gb
post #68 of 102
If it's 5ghz you want then id go for the i7 2600k cpu with a gigabyte ud7 mobo or asus maximus 1155 setup,

Stupidly fast for what you need, with all the braging rights to go with it

I swapped out the MOBO for a rampage 3 extreme. Maybe that'll help somewhat.

No I am not tossing this out, dude this hardware has to OC like hell. I also already own everything but the mobo ram and chip. God doesn't anyone ever just build monsters for the fun of it. I am in this for the thrill of seeing a million fps in oblivion with the everything including grass in full lod from horizon to horizon. That's what I want this machine to do, what so fail about that. I swapped the mobo I think she'll scream, after all all of my builds in the past did and where very stable. Not everyone agreed with some of those choices either, ie. my current rig, but this thing flies so there.
