sb cannot even touch the gulftowns performacne level. even when it overclocks like mad (but gulftowns also ocing very very well for 6core chip )

E:

yea, one of the very best mobos for s1366.

1. why did you not get a gigabyte/asus board?
2. why 5870s?
3. why apogee waterblock?
4. why caviar green?

^^ those are my objections to your choice but..not my money

No I am not tossing this out, dude this hardware has to OC like hell. I also already own everything but the mobo ram and chip. God doesn't anyone ever just build monsters for the fun of it. I am in this for the thrill of seeing a million fps in oblivion with the everything including grass in full lod from horizon to horizon. That's what I want this machine to do, what so fail about that. I swapped the mobo I think she'll scream, after all all of my builds in the past did and where very stable. Not everyone agreed with some of those choices either, ie. my current rig, but this thing flies so there.
i hear you but you can spend $10k on a rig that performs no faster than a wisely chosen $3k rig

I am gonna stick with this gen though man, this stuff is tested, plus top bin chip here so I gotta see what one of these can do specially since I already have kick ass water cooling . I did luck up and catch my order before it left the building and changed the mobo to an ASUS rampage 3 extreme. I might even consider getting all ignorant and splurging on three hd6000 series. Anyone got any idea of how well they OC? Oh and I went ahead and got a couple of raptors for data storage. So thats all the issues I am willing to move on. Still like I said I'm gonna stick with the chip for the extra OC potential as I am hearing stories of 5ghz being fairly practical with a good chip and liquid. I can always add some rads and the loop is only for the CPU anyways as my case keeps my video card plenty cool. The cable managment does suck on this thing but it has awesome airflow with low noise.

for 10k you can build up a sr-2 beast but i doubt that OP needs to buy ONLY a pc atm even when he got 15k to spend

The 990x has been reported to do 5ghz on air/water. Not enough around yet to know if that was a golden sample or average retail, but they are definitely looking stronger than 980x.
It'll be a hell of a nice build OP, good to see you dropped the intel mobo.

anyway decide faster what you will chose cos i want to see results from the 990x under water will it hit 5GHz or not! i assume that it will hit easly since many of 980x could do that (with some bit mad voltage but well, they could do that)

with a 990x and a rampage iii it would be a killer rig and 4.5-5ghz is doable under water

a 990x @ 5ghz would be pure epicness!!!!

Have you looked at the samsung spinpoint f3 1tb drives for storage?

God I sure wish I had got on about this before I bought all that stuff lol. Whats the saying "an act made is haste is and act of waste". Well I love you guys for the feedback. I had not been on here in forever and only got back on this morning. I got a lot of good information in a short time and managed to make the adjustments to my order before it shipped, just barely shooo!

OverClock.net rules, you guys rule, no there's naught to do but wait, and then the glorious day comes when the UPS man arrives. Ahh the delight of an anticipated build, the highs, the lows, the blood, the cursing, then the gabillion FPS . Man I am getting a nerd-on just thinking about it lool. Thanks again guys you probably saved me some major aggrevation today
