Building a thing of beauty, its 990x time! - Page 9

Oh and we're gonna hit 5 on this fo sho, my cooling system may get bashed, but its been top notch for me. Even at 80 far in here this thing never gets above 55c under load, even after 8 hours of torture testing. So I think given the fact that I got this sucker running at 4ghz stable as a rock at 1.36 vcore in 4 hours of ocing and the bin of the chip that we got this! lol well I better get off here for awhile and be productive. Man I can't wait to put this monster through its paces! I must say I am happy with the changes to my build as per everyone's advice.

we will be happy to see the results on that 990X

good luck on build

You should get a 6990 + 6970 when the 6990 comes out for some tri-fire goodness. Then you only have to have 2 cards and 2 blocks!

NonOtherThenI it seems like you can afford more. I'd go with an SR2 with dual Xeon 5680.

Poor motherboard, unjustified processor, bad HDD choice...

Redo that from ground.

Also, don't waste (there's no other word) that amount of money in a 990x. Wait for Ivy instead, yout QX9650 still kicks lots of arsez.

Only one question, what is the price, total, for your build?

+1 in my opinion your build needs some heavy revising.

I changed the mobo to an asus rampage 3 extreme, a good board from what I hear, though not maybe as stable as I like. I also went with 2 600 gig raptors for backup. I really just want the CPU, this is a present for Gods sake I just want to spend some money on myself and build the baddest damn rig I've ever owned, so if the money isn't a thing to me why the hell is it everyone else. I deserve something nice for the years of crawling on my belly through **** to get where I am now. And believe me I will utilize that chip. I also don't give a poo about the ivys I like tried and tested hardware for pushing my stuff to the edge. It's like a car really, which I also build. I just want to see this generations potential unleashed to the max. I simply just want to drive this CPU. And I get on here to learn, not to Own ppl, that craps for the kiddies and I'm here to learn.

Thanks for the feedback though..

Its really only costing me for the chip as everything else is having its counter part in my existing rig sold to a customer. Basically I am selling my current mobo ram and chip while I buy the new mono ram and chip for my rig. So yea 1075 and shipping is the only cost to me in this build. I am actually making off like a bandit on this one. So not what you thought, huh lol.
