The one I linked to is Gold Certified which means that at 50% power draw it was at least 87% efficient. A psu that has a higher efficiency rating is made with better components and will typically last longer. The rosewill psu you have is rated only >70% which is abismal by psu standards
Ok cool, I guess it's off to CompUSA for a new supply then...

Thanks!! Rep it up!!

Ouch... looks like I just blew $120 for nothing. Just bought a XFX 750W Pro PSU and got it all hooked up. It's listed 80%+ Efficient and 62A on a single 12V rail.

I went to boot the PC and I have the exact same problem. It loads to the windows splash screen and then goes black and hangs

This one has two PCIe 6-pin connectors. No molex adaptors used.

Yikes. Do you have any other comp to test the card in? It could just be a bad card.

Huh... My PSU says that it has 18 amps on each of the two 12v rails, and yet I can run FurMark no problem, been folding for 26 hours now with no issues.

Granted, the rest of my system is fairly low-power. It consumes 80ish watts at idle.

Yeah, I have a feeling my old 550w would have worked for the job. Unfortunately I dont have another PC to test the card in, guess I may just ahve to RMA

nobody noticed till now that the op has chosen a bad gfx card...its the gtx 460 se version having just 288 shaders....
to op dont get se version get at least the 768mb gtx 460/1gb gtx 460(non se)....the non se gtx 460's have 336 shaders....
and for ur rig a gud 500 watt is enough and to be sure u can get a quality unit like corsair vx550
EDIT:oops sorry thought u were going to buy....but i think new egg allows changing components within a certain period so u could try getting non se version......

It sounds like a faulty GPU. This happened to one of GTX 480's before. It would not hang and BSOD after installing drivers. I returned it and got another one that worked.

OP, try to return the GTX 460 SE (and maybe the XFX 750W although I don't know if there will be a restocking fee). If you can afford it, try getting the GTX 460 1GB version instead. It is faster than the SE version because it has more shader cores.

it solved mine and my freinds issue....
trying wont hurt....
my problem---"windows start to load and suddenly it would hang and restart..."
