Is it possible to have 2 of the same GPUs for physx?

I'm thinking of picking up another GTS 450. So my setup will be one 580 and two 450. Just wondering if this will cause any problems with phsyx. I will not be using the SLI bridge since the second one will be solely for folding. I know phsyx only uses 1 GPU, but never heard of people using 2 of the same while 1 is folding, while the other is phsyx

Pretty sure physx only supports one GPU. ie: only one GPU core in a GTX 295 can do dedicated physx

I know this already, but i'm wondering if physx will still work since it will detect 3 total GPUs. 2 of the same exact while just 1 of those being used for phsyx

Yes. It will only use 1 GTS 450. Whichever one you choose in the Nvidia control panel.

no reason not to work.
you just have to force it to fold on one specific GPU and the other 450 wouldn't have anything to do with the one folding and could be used for physx

as others have said...

it should work fine...

Edit:

Personally though... i would put the money that i would spend on the 450 towards something else in the system...

Like another 580

If you'd be using the new card for just folding, then you wouldn't be using it "for Physx" like you said.
Physx will run fine with any number of GPUs in the system, but will only run on the GPU you choose in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Yeah it's just I think the GTS 450 is the perfect folding/physx card out right now. Maybe the 550 will be better but basically I just wanted to confirm if this would work.
