sticky/faulty switch on steelseries 6gv2

Thread Starter
hey guys, just recently got a steelseries 6gv2 off newegg and I absolutely love it. The keys feel amazing, but I have a problem with the switch on my C key. Sometimes (not all the time) the switch on the C key will sort of get stuck, as if something is in it, but there isn't. Is it possible to remove the switch from the keyboard itself? if I could do that I would just switch it with another switch on a key I never use. I don't really wanna have to send it back and wait for a replacement =(

you can change the spring..
if somebody have spare springs.
changing switch would require soldering job

but you will lose your warranty of your keyboard and you may break a piece of plastic that will make the key feel a bit of strange..
but you have the key fixed.

I just went through a nightmare of an rma process with Steelseries for the same problem. I actually had to file a paypal claim to get a resolution. Just rma it with Newegg while you still can.

It wasn't a spring issue on my board. I popped the key caps that had this problem and you could see the part that holds the keyswitch itself was melted. With the keyboards being out of stock I would be willing to bet that they had a bad batch and that the op had the same problem. I could be wrong.

Agreed contact Newegg now. Get it set up that they will send you a new one once stock comes in, that way you can avoid the likely longer RMA process, not void your warranty, not possibly ruin your $100 keyboard, and not accidentally run out of time with the Newegg return.
Slowly upgrading.

Since I ALWAYS disagree with Runeazn I would try three things first.

First is pull the key and see if it is a molding defect around the stem cutout. It happens.

Second is spam the key and hope you dislodge whatever is in there or wear down a molding burr.

Third is spray some canned air into the switch.
