No way. That would be a powerful system. Your power supply would be more than adequate as well, I say go for it.

Would the 750watt really be enough? my theory was that 600 for single 580 + SLI would be like adding another 200 watts

Yes it should be fine.

Well I think you will be on the limit with 750 watt. I would not use it for too long.

If you can SLI GTX580, I am sure you can spare some money to upgrade your PSU too.

EDIT : 580th post lmao biggrin.gif

Microcenter is running a great deal on the Sparkle 1000w unit.

Edit: It's mostly modular, only hard wired stuff is stuff you need either way.

This is probably one of the better PSU's for the setup you have.

Corsair AX 850 - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139015&Tpk=ax%20850

Costs quite a bit of money, but it's quality and what powers the computer..it's always wise never to skimp on quality as far as the PSU is concerned.

A system running two gtx 580's in sli, with a 980x under load with prime for a couple of hours with an AX850 from corsair will use about 650-680 watts considering it's high efficiency. More watts would be used from the wall. Don't take my word for it..do the research if it bugs you..but 850 should be fine.

An 850 watt would be what you would upgrade to if anything. Check out this thread for more information.
