Razer Lycosa: nothing but regret

So, I went to go buy a Black widow ultimate from Microcenter

(and after a massively long and frustrating story) they didn't have any.

I was so p/o and microcenter, and having the need for a keyboard, I went to BBuy and picked up a lycosa, i figured hey, nothing new, I've used this style before, no its not the mechanical keyboard that you wanted but hey save some cash and check it out.

So I get it home and out of the box, and all I can say is blah..the key layout and spacing feel between 1 key and another is terrible.

The rubber coating or whatever they call it feels awful to me.

I can already tell you this coating will wear off in less than 6 months.

the back lighting is awful and is so dispersed that some of the keys are barely lit (minor as I don't intend to use lighting) but if it has it, it should function.

the glossy style..Fingerprint magnet, not even out of the box barely and its plastered.

and to top it all off, just the blah feeling of typing on it.

half the keys squeak.

Going back, a.s.a.p.

I need to find a replacement.

Again I am so dissatisfied with yet another Razer product, I don't know why I continue to buy into there products.

(this is not an attempt at a hate thread) these are just my opinions and you don't have to share them.

altho, unless someone has something AMAZING to say about the blackwidow I don't think there is any way I can commit to it.

wish Xarmor would open there site back up.

Maybe I'll just pick up a Das or a Leupold if it ever comes into existence.

I love the key spacing on the lycosa, My rubber coating is perfectly intact, The backlight on mine is perfectly smooth.

I do have to say that I am sorry that you had a bad experiance, buy some of your gripes are personal opinion, such as the feeling of the rubber coating, and the key spacing.

I would say go find some place you can test a keyboard before you buy it, so you can find the keyboard that suits your needs.

im with you. it looks nice and all, but damn.

feels weird, mine always ends up ''pressing'' a random button without me touching the keyboard.

when i listen to music, sometimes it would skip to the next track nonstop and i have to unplug the usb to the keyboard to fix it -_-

i do want another keyboard, but this one was a gift from my gf...and she lives with me LOL.

yeah, I wish testing it was an option.

as to the rubbing coating, I barely have any nails and i barely nicked it with my fingertip and its gouged. ( this happened after my original posting)

I find the placement of the keys well, but difficult to tell where one key ands and another beings, possibly because I have such big hands and my fingertip floats from one key to another without sensing the beveled gap.

maybe I got a fluke with the back lighting.

Yes I had forgot to mention I've already experienced "Ghost" inputs

I have never had problems with nicking the coating. I mean it makes a mark in the coating, but if i rub my finger over it the mark goes away, so it isn't physical, just a visual mark.

I have had the ghosting problem with the media keys too, but that only happens once every like 3 or 4 months, so it isn't a big deal. I personally like the keyboard a ton.

Gah, and now im noticing huge issues with NKRO

on I think every keyboard I've ever had if I'm moving right with d or left with a if I press the opposite before releasing I get no change, all my old keyboards would flip to most recently pressed (which i'd prefer) this is an issue on my part but one I've never experienced before.

My keyboard is nicked all the way to the keycap with light coming threw, all I did was bend my right hand pinky finger down to hit the shift key and depress it, very little pressure did it ><

also forgot to mention that my wsd keys' coating are fading, but that's to be expected.

less than 1 year old though. bout 8

i love the simpleness of my lycosa! and the lights are NOT distracting at all. only thing i hate is the driver. there would be random key freakouts, either it wont work or it will be like its stuck and ur option is to unplug and plug it back in to fix it.

I would have waited to get the Xarmor, and it would have been better to order a 9$ rosewell off newegg than to get that crap razer keyboard.

I'm with you on this one. I was at Fry's yesterday just browsing around and tested out the Lycosa. I took my hands off it the second I touched it. Hated everything about it.
