Put in Card, Now Won't Boot

Thread Starter
My buddy put an 8400gs in his Lenovo prebuilt system. When the new card is in, the computer won't boot. When he takes it out it will boot. It displays nothing on the screen at all when the card is in. Any ideas? I am thinking his power supply is not sufficient.

most likely his bios setup is configured to boot up IGFX only. Cmos reset and see if that fixes the problem.

Wouldn't resetting CMOS set it to default? It is at factory settings, so I would guess those are default.

Resetting CMOS would probably fix the problem. As mentioned before hes probably running on the IGFX setting which is probably already setted when he bought the PC.

I would say power supply is insufficent. My dad's system did the same thing when I stuck a 4850 in with the stock 350W PSU. Upgraded it and the PC fired up. Also make sure if there is a power cable for the card, it is seated properly.
