1)Strip the card
2)Remove thermal pads (carefully to conserve) and tim
3) line cookie sheet/baking pan w/ aluminum.
4)Place card on sheet/pan (put it upside down leaving a space created by the bracket and end of the pcb)
5) Bake 400°F/200°C for 10mins
6) Remove and let it cool 30mins to an hour.
7) Reassemble
8) Test

I was successful 5 times in reviving my HD4870x2 BUT keep in mind, baking is really prolonging the inevitable death of a card, here's hoping op's lasts for a while

I tried this with an old 7800gtx, first time it didn't work then i tried again with it flipped upside down... everything fell off when the solder melted lolololl. I then proceeded to throw the card directly into the garbage...
Gratz on the success tho!

Congratz OP for getting it to work! I have never tried baking a card before, but I probably will if the time comes

I've baked my 4870X2 three times already. Every time I do I get another 3-4 months life out of it. So I'll keep baking it as long as it keeps working.
