Which card for GTA4?

Thread Starter
I have recently got into the whole "ENBseries" thing, but in order to have AA you have to double your resolution. In my case, that would be 3840x2160. Will a 570 GTX be able to play the game at this res? Maxed? I am looking for a price range of $250-$380. I can't go with dual gpus because my board only supports crossfire. Thanks!

- I am specifically looking at the MSI 570 GTX for $360 on newegg because it has the twin frozr which I have on both of my current cards and love very much.

Go with a 2GB 6950. GTA IV loves Vram and you can flash the 6950 to a 6970.

I would like to stick with Nvidia because I have 2 beautiful 5770 HAWKS right now and I can't play half my games (Metro 2033 esp) because they are not well supported. But... this is like my cards daddy:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127562

You really think it can do the GTA IV maxed at that res?

It's working very nice for me!
You got a quad and GTA4 supports CrossfireX, it ran good when I had twin Juniper XT's you should be fine.

I did have to play with AMD's drivers and some updates to get it to run good though.
Its been butter smooth with this Nvidia driver package.

1920 X 1080 High settings, 2XAA, 40's for sliders is what you should run at.

You mean with my HAWKS? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but GTA4 really doesn't run well for me even with AA off. GTA shows all my vid memory though (2048). Runs maxed without AA but stutters sometimes. Really want that beautiful ENB look! Pls let me know how you did it?

- Just looked at a 3D mark vantage list and my config is JUST below the 295 GTX so I shouldn't have any probs. Is this because my second slot is x4? doubt it would make much of a difference on 5770s

you can bypass the memory restriction by using the -norestrict command before running the game

I don't have a memory restriction (I don't think) it shows all 2gb vram. Or is that not the same thing? I will read up on it but let me know what exactly that does pls!

The memory restriction is when it won't let you turn up the settings because you "don't have enough VRAM." Major pain when playing it on my lappy with its 256 meg of VRAM. With 2 gigs though, you should have no problem.

1) You can't use AA in GTA IV.
2) HD6950 or GTX570 would both be fine.
3) You're not going to MAX GTA IV out with a Phenom II quad unless you've got it clocked to the sky and back (4.0GHz or better).
4) You won't max it at such a high resolution with ANY card out today. You'll be lucky to pull off Medium.
5) When you have dual 1GB cards, you have 1GB of VRAM, not 2GB.
