i7 920 C0 Overclocking Questions

Hey everyone,

Let me start by saying I have indeed read the guide on the i7's, and I believe I have a somewhat good understanding of how OCing works
I do need some help hitting a stable OC at lower voltages.

This screenshot is three hours into Prime95 Small FFTs @ 3.8GHz. All was well until I decided to be stupid and browse the web with quite a few tabs open in Chrome. My screen ended up freezing and I got hit with a 0x240 BSOD. I am confident that I would be stable if I left the PC idle.. but then again you never know..

Anyways, my settings in BIOS are as followed:
CPU Frequency: 21x
BCLK: 181
PCIE: 100
DRAM Frequency: Auto
UCLK: Auto
QPI Link Data Rate: Auto
CPU Voltage: 1.33125
PLL: Auto
VTT: 1.25
VDIMM: 1.64
LLC: Disabled

All power saving features off.
Everything else not listed set to auto.
(if you need any other numbers let me know)

Now CPU-Z reads my voltage at 1.264 @ load (despite being keyed higher in BIOS, though I believe this is vdroop?). Is this a safe voltage to run 24/7? I attempted the "quick" method to 4.0GHz but was unable to even run prime for 10 seconds without BSODing even with a significant boost in Vcore. Is there any tips you guys could provide for achieving 3.8GHz stable or even 4.0GHz stable with a relatively low voltage? Cooling is obviously not an issue but I am worried about the life of my chip due to a high voltage.

as your chip is a C0 stepping it will likely require a higher voltage. 1.3 is fine. You can approach the 1.4V mark without doing any harm to the chip, but it will put off quite a bit of heat. CPU-Z will shower the voltage fluctuating, not to worry. Raise you BLCK to 200, and your voltage to 1.4 and the rest of you settings adjust as necessary. If it posts stable at 1.4V great. Try and back it down until you BSOD again, then raise the voltage back up and run Prime. See how many passes you get (should run for 24 hours to be on safe side).

Thank you for the suggestions!
I think I've got some good numbers plugged in now. I'll run Prime95 overnight and post the results here
