PS3 to PC Monitor - No HDCP

Thread Starter
Hi,
I basically want to get my PS3 connected to a monitor (has DVI and VGA) that is not HDCP complient.

I've heard about HDMI to DVI but apparently this doesn't work if the monitor doesn't have HDCP. Any new info on this?

Also read on this forum there's a way to go from "hdmi to RGB cables and get the RGB to vga adapter". Anyone else confirm is this will work and most importantly remember the HDCP issue.

Finally was wondering if it might be possible using the A/V cables but read that requires an fairly expensive converter - looking to avoid.

Any help would be great guys.

What monitor are you trying to connect it to ?
Mine is pretty old and it worked without any HDCP dramas just using a $10 Belkin HDMI to DVI adapter.

You might want to read THIS as another guy was in prettymuch the same situation.

Hope it helps!

I used to use a component to VGA converter to play on my CRT monitor. You do need an active converter.

I had a lot of trouble stemming from the fact that the PS3 settings reset will put the resolution down to 480i, which the CRT couldn't display. We didn't have any HDTV at the time, so I had to get someone on OCN to map out what buttons to press blindly to change the resolution.

I don't know if the 480i would work on the LCD, or not.
