I5 2500k or 1090T

Thread Starter
I am currently in the process of building a rig, will be mainly used for gaming, watching movies, making short montages, and general everyday use.

I'm wondering which chip would be more future proof.

I would pair the I5 2500k with a ASUS P8P67 PRO.

See sig for amd set.

2500K or wait for Bulldozer.

Not saying I am an Intel fanboy or anything, but when you ask the Intel section, the majority of people are going to recommend the Intel CPU over the AMD CPU.

IMHO, wait for Bulldozer and see how it does.

I would wait for bulldozer to see what happens. Either way bulldozer should bulldoze some prices across both companies.

I agree with the above. With an exception. If you are looking for maximum gaming performance, go for the 2500K, if you are going to be encoding a lot of videos, I'd recommend the 2600K or the 1090T. Or wait for Bull-Dozer. Either way for AMD, wait a few weeks for some of the new AM3+ Motherboards.

Waiting for Bulldozer to compare to Sandy Bridge would be the smart choice however... the 2500k is pretty amazing
