Choosing Monitors

SO heres 2 monitors I have to choose from. One I have to wait for shipping, the other I can get instantly, but no HDMI.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236117

180 with the promo, Has HDMI but I have to wait for shipping......

Friend works at office depot and I can get it for pretty much 180 and some odd cents... but doesnt have a HDMI port but support same resolution.

Question is: Is HDMI really better then DVI at same resolution? I dont have any consoles to hook up to it with HDMI.

go with the viewsonic. i have the 27" at home and 2ea of the 22" LED's at work. they are excellent choices for the money. i'm not a monitor snob IRT color, backlight, etc. i just go with what looks nice and worth the money.

Are you going to be using this for your computer or consoles or both? HDMI is very noticeable on consoles. As for computers, I don't notice it as much..

The only thing I do is gaming, no photoshop or video editing. Every once in a while I watch some tv episodes or a movie but mainly gaming. I just feel like the viewsonic is already out of date with no HDMI.

The principal differences are that HDMI carries audio as well as video, and uses a different type of connector, but both use the same encoding scheme, and that's why a DVI source can be connected to an HDMI monitor, or vice versa, with a DVI/HDMI cable, with no intervening converter box.
DVI and HDMI are no different.

Hope that helps.
