One trick I use is to go into safe mode, save files from users accounts in a folder onto desk top. Next creat a new account as admin then delete all other accounts. Reboot to the new account download AVG free and run it for a couple days then remove it.

Works good for me all the time, you just have to reset your settings in the new account.

There are also some sweet systernals apps to see what running processes are hooked into what and shows their regkey entries. Also run msconfig and delete bad entries.
