Will It Work? Why or why not... - Page 2

Im not in charge of these repairs but from what I see, its best to preheat both mobos first. Then soon as you move the chip just heat it up again for a long time.
Not 100% about the oven though.
Google for info. Youll be surprised how much you can find on soldering

I HAVE AN IDEA! Would it work if I put a slightly better chip on?

it might work but can you accurately place the chip and allign all the pads? and make sure there are no shorts? if you can the, it might work. lso im pretty sure the mobo is missing more than just graphics chip, probably some other stuf to.

Thanks Mello,
So this is another thing I had in mind, what if I put this chip on it?
geforce go 8400m
Also, is the memory in the video "chip" I hate using the word chip... anyway,, wouldnt the dedicated memory modules be on the motherboard as well, therefor I would have to move those as well?

You should be able to do it with a direct board to board swap. As long as everything is exactly the same. The hard part is actually "soldering" it.

From personal experience when trying to add more ram to an original xbox (for homebrew linux), do not have any spirits before hand. I bricked my mobo that way. I wasn't upset until I sobered up in the morning.

This might not work, if the pin outs are different. The only way to know for sure if you found pin outs for the board and gpus. There are a lot of possibilities why it would or wouldn't work.

I don't want to be a naysayer, but I am HYPERskeptical on this one
